GORDON ARMSTRONG, M.R.I.C.S., P.Q.S., entered the Quantity Surveying Diploma Course at Glasgow College of Building (Strathclyde University), Glasgow, Scotland in 1970 and graduated with Merit in 1974.  He commenced work with Fred Smith and Partners in Hamilton, Scotland and gained valuable experience during the two years he spent there. 

 

In 1976 Gordon moved to Ottawa and worked with Helyar and Associates for sixteen years.   In 1982 he became a Director and in 1986, became a full partner.  In 1992 he formed Gordon Armstrong & Associates which specialized in Cost Planning / Cost Control and Project Monitoring in the Ottawa, Eastern Ontario and Quebec markets. 

 

Gordon is principal of AMS Quantity Surveyors and heads up the Cost Estimating and Cost Planning team. He has worked on a wide variety of projects ranging in size from $1M up to $200M.

 

In addition, he also works on the Project Monitoring side of the business and normally reviews reports prior to their issue to our clients.
